With summer in sight, festival season is back in full swing. Whether you're planning a weekend-long party at a music festival or a day enjoying the atmosphere at a food or culture festival, it's important to be well prepared and bring the right gear. With this handy checklist, you can be sure of a worry-free festival visit! Ow and don't forget that you're also going to need a suitable festival bag for all this ;-)

  1. Tickets
First of all, it is of course important to bring your tickets. Print them out or put them on your smartphone so you always have them to hand.

  2. Money and bank cards
Make sure you have enough cash with you. Bear in mind that ATMs at festivals often have long queues or may even be empty. Therefore, also bring a bank card, such as a credit or debit card.

  3. Proof of identity
Valid proof of identity is mandatory at festivals. So bring your passport, ID card or driving licence.

  4. Sunglasses and sun cream
Protect yourself from the sun and bring sunglasses and sunscreen. Especially if you will be outdoors for a long time, it is important to protect your skin properly.

  5. Water bottle
It is important to stay hydrated during a festival. Therefore, take a reusable water bottle with you. Many festivals have free water taps where you can refill your bottle.

  6. Comfortable shoes
At a festival, you often walk long distances and stand a lot. Therefore, make sure you have comfortable shoes, such as trainers.

  7. Mackintosh or poncho
In the Netherlands, the weather can change quickly. Bring a mackintosh or poncho just in case, so you don't have to stand in the rain unexpectedly.

  8. Warm clothes
Even if it is warm during the day, it can cool down considerably at night. Bring a jumper or cardigan for when it gets cold.

  9. Powerbank
You don't want your phone to run out of power when you want to take photos or meet up with friends. So take a powerbank with you so you always have enough power.

  10. Toiletry bag
Finally, it is handy to bring a toiletry bag with essentials such as toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant and wet wipes. Many festivals do not have sanitary facilities nearby, so make sure you are adequately prepared yourself.

  11. Earplugs
At festivals, the noise can sometimes be very loud. Protect your hearing and take a pair of earplugs with you. Special festival earplugs are available that muffle the noise but still make the music easily audible.

  12. Snacks
At festivals, there are often plenty of eateries and food trucks where you can eat good food, but it can also be handy to bring your own snacks. Think fruit, granola bars, or other snacks that last a long time and are easy to transport.

  13. Rug
A rug can be handy to sit on if no chairs or benches are available. Bring a lightweight rug that is easy to fold.

  14. Lights
When it gets dark at the festival site, it can be handy to bring a torch or headlamp so you don't have to grope around in the dark.

  15. Tent and sleeping gear
If you plan to spend the night at the festival site, don't forget to bring a tent and sleeping gear. Think of a sleeping bag, air bed or mat and pillow. Also, don't forget to bring a torch in case you need to go to the toilet at night.

  16. Clothes and shoes for all weather conditions
Check the weather forecast in advance and make sure you bring clothes and shoes suitable for all weather conditions. It can get quite muddy on a festival site, so bring boots or other waterproof shoes too.

  17. Rubbish bags
Bring a few bin bags to put your rubbish in. Many festivals have special rubbish bins, but it can be handy to have your own.

  18. Medical supplies
If you take medication, make sure you bring enough for the duration of the festival. Also bring a first-aid kit with plasters, painkillers and other medical supplies.

  19. Condoms
Without explaining too much about this, you understand only too well what these might be needed for ;-)

  20. Phone
And finally of course, but who goes on a pass without one, your mobile phone. Always knowing where your friends are hanging out and keeping in touch with anyone not along to the festival. You want to share everything you experience, don't you?

With this comprehensive checklist, you'll be all set for a festival! Don't forget to check carefully in advance which items are and are not allowed on the festival grounds. And of course, enjoy the music, atmosphere and company!
